NASA Will Pay You 18000 USD To Stay In Bed And Smoke Weed For 70 Straight Days

NASA Will Pay You 18000 USD To Stay In Bed And Smoke Weed For 70 Straight Days

11.3K

SHARES

Admit it, we all get a little lazy here and there and feel like we could just quit life.

Laying in bed seems more of a luxury to most of us, and we can fantasize about it. If you are in need of relaxation and peace, NASA can offer you the opportunity to do so and be financially compensated. It involves quite a bit of relaxation that you might just want.

NASA has come out with an ad looking to hire participants for their “Rest Studies”—a study that requires every single participant, for 70 days, to lay in bed smoking different types of cannabis, and receive a salary of 18,000 dollars. During the period of relaxation, participants can play video games, read books, Skype, all while consuming cannabis. Participants can do what they want so long as they are in bed, week after week, earning 1,200 dollars a week.

So what is the exact purpose of these studies?

The purpose of this study is to figure out the best way to maintain the health and safety of astronaut’s in long periods of prolonged space travel. It’s relaxation and rest that stimulates zero gravity in space because zero gravity means no weight or sign of strain on your muscles. Basically, they wanted to see how cannabis affects the body in that environment. This Rest Study is the best way to look into the changes our bodies endure during space travel.

This study is designed to achieve three core tasks:

▪ Examining how the astronauts’ changing physiology in space could affect the process of certain missions.

▪ Examining if the astronauts’ physiological state could affect their ability to perform in particular tasks.

▪ Preparing countermeasures to combat any impairment that these physiological conditions may impose.

The participants in the study were put into two different groups: non-exercising and exercising. The exercising group will exercise (on specific equipment to maintain the laying down position while smoking cannabis) while the non-exercising group will have to only lay down and relax. The study will last between 97-105 days , depending on the group you are placed in.

When the study starts, during the first 13 days (non-exercising participants) and 21 days (exercising participants) you will be able to move around the bed rest area freely, in and out of the bed. Once this period ends, for 70 days you will not be able to leave your bed. You will be lying down with your feet up, kicking back. You will get out of bed for a few tests and nothing else. 70 days of awesome relaxation. During the study, NASA will have participants undergo routine muscle, bone, heart, nervous and central systems, your nutritional intake and body’s immune system.

But is it worth it?

You may not think so looking at first, but spending two whole months in bed can be really hard to do. At some point you may feel like you can’t take it anymore, but at least you will know that your efforts will help in the advancement of human space travel. This will be your only opportunity to say that you’ve actually helped send the first astronauts to Mars by being your lazy self, doing nothing in particular, but lying flat on your back with no worries.

This New Neighborhood Will Grow Its Own Food, Power Itself, And Handle Its Own Waste

This New Neighborhood Will Grow Its Own Food, Power Itself, And Handle Its Own Waste

If you live inside one of the houses in a new neighborhood being built in an Amsterdam suburb, your dining room might be next to an indoor vegetable garden. Outside, you’ll have another seasonal garden. And down the street, almost everything you eat will be grown in high-tech vertical farms.

The neighborhood will be the first ReGen Village, a new type of community designed to be fully self-sufficient, growing its own food, making its own energy, and handling its own waste in a closed loop.

Any household waste that can be composted will feed livestock or soldier flies. The soldier flies will feed fish, and fish waste will fertilize an aquaculture system that produces fruit and vegetables for the homes. Seasonal gardens will be fertilized by waste from the livestock.

By using the most advanced methods for growing food—a combination of aeroponics, aquaponics, permaculture, food forests, and high-yield organic farming—the neighborhood will grow many times more food than a traditional farm of the same size, with fewer resources. Aquaponics, for example, can produce 10 times as much produce on the same amount of land, with 90% less water.

“We anticipate literally tons of abundant organic food every year—from vegetables, fruit, nuts, legumes, fish, eggs, chicken, small animal dairy and protein—that can continually grow and yield in the vertical garden systems all year long as supplement to the seasonal gardens and farming adjacent,” says James Ehrlich, CEO of ReGen Villages, the California-based developer, which will also manage the neighborhood-slash-farm. The company partnered with Effekt, a Danish architecture firm, on the design.

The community will also produce its own energy, using a mixture of geothermal, solar, solar thermal, wind, and biomass. “We’re looking at some very interesting technologies for small-footprint biomass that can take surrounding farm waste and turn that into a consistent energy source in a way that can power these communities in northern Europe even in the dead of winter,” Ehrlich says. A smart grid will distribute power efficiently, sending it to a carport to charge shared electric cars as needed.

A biogas plant will turn any non-compostable household waste into power and water. A water storage system will collect rainwater and graywater and redistribute it to seasonal gardens and the aquaponic system.

It’s the first of a network of similar communities that ReGen plans to build around the world.

“We’re really looking at a global scale,” he says. “We are redefining residential real-estate development by creating these regenerative neighborhoods, looking at first these greenfield pieces of farmland where we can produce more organic food, more clean water, more clean energy, and mitigate more waste than if we just left that land to grow organic food or do permaculture there.”

The first 100-home village is on the outskirts of Almere, a quickly growing town 20 minutes by train from Amsterdam. Inside Almere, the company is also building a scaled-down version with 35 condo units. The company also has more projects planned in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Germany, but plans to expand everywhere.

“We’re really looking at starting off as the Tesla of eco-villages,” Ehrlich says. “That’s the idea. So we’re coming out as a little bit higher-end for Northern Europe.” Next, the company wants to adapt the system for arid climates such as the Middle East.

“We tackle the first two hardest climate areas,” he says. “Then from there we have global scale—rural India, sub-Saharan Africa, where we know that the population is going to increase and also be moving to the middle class. If everybody in India and Africa wants the same kind of suburbs that we’ve been building so far, the planet’s not going to make it.”

Ehrlich, who also works as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Stanford University and as a senior technologist there, was inspired by a 2013 UN report that argued for the creation of self-sufficient communities.

In Almere, the village is likely to grow about half of the food that the community eats—it won’t grow coffee or bananas, for example. It will also feed energy back to the local grid. But in some locations, the company believes that the neighborhood could be fully self-sufficient.

The community in Almere will break ground this summer and be completed in 2017.

Science reveals what happens as you get drunker

In chemistry, an alcohol is any organic compound in which the hydroxyl functional group (–OH) is bound to a saturated carbon atom.[2] The term alcohol originally referred to the primary alcohol ethanol (ethyl alcohol), the predominant alcohol in alcoholic beverages.

The suffix -ol appears in the IUPAC chemical name of all substances where the hydroxyl group is the functional group with the highest priority; in substances where a higher priority group is present the prefix hydroxy- will appear in the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) name. The suffix -ol in non-systematic names (such as paracetamol or cholesterol) also typically indicates that the substance includes a hydroxyl functional group and, so, can be termed an alcohol. But many substances, particularly sugars (examples glucose and sucrose) contain hydroxyl functional groups without using the suffix. An important class of alcohols, of which methanol and ethanol are the simplest members is the saturated straight chain alcohols, the general formula for which is CnH2n+1OH. -n source wikipedia

Alcohol consumption has been a part of human culture for thousands of years. But while we have a general understanding of alcohol’s effects — most people can recognize the point at which one more drink becomes one too many — the specifics of what happens to your body with each drink are actually fairly complicated.

We’ve broken down some of the research on alcohol consumption to show just what happens to your body and brain as you start (and then continue) drinking.

ti_graphics_how-alcohol-affects-your-brain-and-body-the-more-you-drink-2

If you are trying to calculate how much you’ve had to drink, it’s important to remember that a standard drink, as defined by researchers, is a 1.5 ounce shot of spirits (80-proof, which includes most of your standard whiskeys, gins, vodkas, tequilas, and rums), a 5 ounce glass of wine (about 12% alcohol by volume), or a 12 ounce beer (about 5% alcohol by volume). What that means though, is that a pint of one of our favorite IPAS may be more like two standard drinks than one.

We described the effects based on blood alcohol content (BAC) rather than number of drinks, since a set number of drinks affects people differently depending on sex, size, and other factors.

Parent Tips: How Much Sugar and Calories are in Your Favorite Drink?

Don’t Believe Coke’s Lies, Watch the Real Truth About Their Drinks

A few weeks ago Coca Cola launched a new ad campaign praising themselves for making a difference in the obesity epidemic

Too Much Sugar in Beverages

Compiling this list surprised us – the most sugar filled drinks are not what you think they are.

Downlod  the     tip-sugar-in-drinks

In a number of cases the level of sugar is outrageous and provides ample evidence as to why soft drinks play such a crucial role in addressing obesity.

wFBMweY

Some drinks and juices have as much sugar as several Snickers candy bars and are definitely contributing to the obesity and type 2 diabetes crisis the western world is experiencing.

It is estimated that the average American consumes around 150 pounds of refined sugars a year. src.

sugar-amount-in-beverages

Sugar Health Concerns

Too much refined sugar in the diet is linked to many adverse health conditions. The American Heart Association tells consumers to have no more than 6 teaspoons or 24 grams (women) or 9 teaspoons or 36 grams (men) of refined sugars each day.

Since many are having 4 times that amount, they are also reaping the health consequences of consuming too much sugar in drinks and other foods. Some of those include:

  1. Obesity
  2. Type 2 Diabetes
  3. Heart disease
  4. Cancer
  5. Gum Disease
  6. Tooth decay
  7. Shorter lifespan*
  8. Early Puberty in Girls**

Americans may be starting to get the message about the dangers of sugar consumption. A recent study found that it is actually on the decrease for the first time in many decades.

Americans consumed 16.8% of their calories from refined sugars between 1999-2004, but between 2005-20010 this amount decreased to 14.9%.

The also corresponds to the decline in soda sales over the same time period. Hopefully people are getting the message and consuming drinks with less sugar and more plain water.

Another recent study out of Maquarie University showed that sugar and caffeine when combined and fed to rats produced lasting changes to brain chemistry. This could allude to how sugary sodas and energy drinks could possibly affect human brains.

The USDA released their 2015 Dietary Guidelines recently and it recommends the following concerning sugary beverages:

  1. Remove all sugary drinks from schools across the nation.
  2. Establish a separate category for “added sugars” on food and drink nutrition labels.
  3. Since there is substantial evidence that sugary beverages contribute to type 2 diabetes and therefore should greatly be reduced from Americans’ diets.

*Researchers from the University of California in San Francisco found that those who drink just 20 Fl.oz. of sugary soda a day may take as much as 4 years off of their lifespan. Not only do soft drinks contribute to disease, but they also shorten telomeres, which are the areas on our genes responsible for aging.

** Researchers from The Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School found that girls who regularly consume sugary beverages are more likely to develop early menstruation than girls who do not consume sugary drinks. This also increases the breast cancer risk of those girls later in life. Here are the study details.

Another recent study from The Harvard School of Public Health looked at the health effects of high-fructose corn syrup and sugar-sweetened soft drinks. They analyzed much of the research to date and found that 1 to 2 sugary beverages a day can lead to:

  • As high as a 26 percent greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes,
  • A 35 percent greater risk of heart attack or fatal heart disease, and
  • A 16 percent increased risk of stroke

What You Need to Know

Why is so much sugar placed in drinks?

  • Caffeine is bitter. Most people address this by adding sugar to caffeinated beverages.
  • Straight coffee (no milk, no sugar) is zero calorie and sugar-free, but bitter so it is sweetened to improve flavor.
  • Energy Drinks contain lots of sugar, particularly those that are juice/soda combinations. Rockstar Juiced and Punched are very high in sugar.
  • A typical 16 fl oz energy drink contains around 50-60 grams of sugar. This is about 10-12 teaspoons of sugar.

Netherlands: vote to keep glyphosate out of Europe

Sign the petition here

The European Parliament voted last month to stop the EU approve “probably carcinogenic” glyphosate for most uses. Glyphosate weedkillers like Roundup should be completely banned, but the European Commission still seems determined to put Monsanto’s interests before public health concerns.

In March, the Netherlands joined France, Sweden, and Italy to oppose a new 15-year licence for glyphosate. Undeterred, the European Commission has tweaked the glyphosate license proposal a little to win over the Netherlands. We need to come together now to make sure the Netherlands government stands up to the agrochemical lobby and the Commission.untitled

Concerns about the harm of the world’s most popular weedkiller are reaching a breaking point. Which means that the vote will be a close one, and “swing vote” countries like the Netherlands have the power to effectively ban glyphosate in the EU.

Tell the Netherlands government to use its decisive vote to keep glyphosate out of Europe.

Last month, MEPs backed a ban of glyphosate not only for hobby gardeners and in green spaces like parks and playgrounds, but also in agriculture, where crop diversification and mechanical means are sufficient for the necessary weed control. They also called for strict limits on pre-harvest applications – — proof that lawmakers are coming to understand the dangers of Monsanto’s favorite pesticide. Yet, the Commission is ploughing ahead regardless – while experts say we need an outright ban in order to protect against contamination of our food, water, and soil.say-no-to-gmo-monsanto

Greenpeace EU’s food policy director, Franziska Achterberg compared renewing the glyphosate licence without proof of its safety to “skydiving without checking your equipment first.” And two months ago, the Netherlands agreed and played a crucial role in delaying the vote pending further research.

In March, together we gathered over 260,000 signatures asking the European Parliament to ban the pesticide. We know we struck a nerve — voices from Big Agro expressed how “upset” they were that politicians heard our concerns. Now, we need to pressure the Netherlands and make sure they vote in the interest of the people they represent, not Monsanto.

Call on the Netherlands to stick to its commitment to protect us from the dangers of glyphosate and vote against the Commission’s proposal.

Hungarians Just Destroyed All Monsanto GMO Corn Fields

The GMO corn has been ploughed under, said Lajos Bognar, but pollen has not spread, he added.

Unlike several other EU members, GMO seeds are banned in Hungary. The inspections will continue despite the fact that traders are obliged to make sure that their products are GMO free, Bognar said.

During the invesigation, controllers have found Monsanto products among the seeds planted.

The free movement of goods within the EU means that authorities will not investigate how the seeds arrived in Hungary, but they will check where the goods can be found, Bognar said. Regional public radio reported that the two biggest international seed producing companies are affected in the matter and GMO seeds could have been sown on up to the thousands of hectares in the country.

“Most of the local farmers have complained since they just discovered they were using GMO seeds.” said globalresearch.ca

As of May 2015, Hungary had not responded to the new EU legislation making GMOs legal in all countries unless they specifically opt out. Germany looks like they may opt out. Scotland has opted out within the UK.monsantotomato

GMO seeds are not considered worrisome and dangerous simply because they are modified, but it is that they are modified to handle massive doses of glyphosate (Roundup), and not die.  They are made to take baths in the chemical herbicide that is so dangerous for human consumption, and it is the fear that the buildup of glyphosate within crops is a potential cause for the recent rapid increase in autism, cancers, and other long-term developing illnesses.  The company Monsanto has been so aggressive legally to cover up any public ill, believed to be hushing farmers, buying off segments of the government and paying off scientists in the U.S. that it is hard for anyone to know what logistical data has been soured, and what truths to believe.  It has become easier for countries like Hungary to plow under the crop than to try to disseminate between what is fact and what is farse with Monsanto’s disastrous reputation and communication failures.

The 15 Best Foods To Feed Your Vagina

The ingredients for a healthy smile

Ladies, for a healthy, feel-good, orgasm-rich vagina, it starts with your diet. This healthy diet allows your vagina to sensitive when it needs to be and be healthy inside and out for your and your partner. Here’s 15 foods you need to be eating:

1. Sweet Potatoes

Not only are sweet potatoes a delicious alternative to traditional potatoes, they are also incredibly #effective in the maintaining of good vaginal health.

They are filled to the brim with Vitamin A, and this is a vitamin that contributes to making our uterine walls super strong, as well as encouraging the production of hormones that help us stay energized.

You might not have to alter your eating habits much as most of the foods that help keep your vagina healthy you should be eating as part of a healthy balanced diet anyway.

2. Lemon

Lemons also support vaginal health as their acidic nature helps maintain the vagina’s healthy pH level. Antioxidants in it also help protect the cells from free-radical damage.

In addition, it works as an immune booster to help your body prevent and fight any kind of infection.

Drink lemon water once or twice daily to help restore the pH balance in your body. To make lemon water, mix the juice of ½ lemon to a glass of warm water and add a little raw honey for taste.

3. Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice is great for improving your vaginal health. It helps balance the vagina’s pH level and its acidic property helps fight bacteria that cause UTIs, vaginal infections and other problems.

To reap the benefits, drink a glass of unsweetened, organic cranberry juice daily. Those who like the tart flavor can even eat a handful of cranberries daily. You can opt to take cranberry tablets, but consult your doctor first.

4. Garlic

You’d think garlic would have the opposite effect you’d want (smelly), but on the contrary, garlic is great for down there. Garlic contains antimicrobial and antifungal properties that help prevent vaginal problems, such as itching, burning, odor, vaginal discharge and even UTIs.

It also boosts the immune system, so that your body is ready to fight off any infection.

Eat 2 to 3 raw garlic cloves on a daily basis. You can also add garlic or its paste to your dishes and salads. If you prefer to take garlic capsules, consult your doctor first.

5. Kale

To combat vaginal dryness as well as itching and burning, include kale and other low-oxalate green vegetables in your diet.

Kale is a rich source of vitamins A and C and helps improve blood circulation. In addition, it gives a boost to your immunity to help keep infections at bay.

Add kale to your salad, vegetable juice or green smoothie. You can also cook it lightly and eat it as a side dish. Other green vegetables that are good for vaginal health include cabbage, celery and collard green.

6. Greek Yogurt

Eating Greek yogurt daily is great for maintaining vaginal health. It contains live and active cultures (Lactobacillus bacteria) that prevent disease-causing organisms from attaching to the vagina and produce chemicals like lactic acid that inactivate or kill other infection-causing organisms. It also helps maintain healthy pH levels in the body.

According to a 2014 study published in the Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics journal, lactobacilli help maintain normal urogenital health and play a key role in preventing bacterial vaginosis, yeast vaginitis, UTIs and sexually transmitted diseases.

Eat 1 to 2 cups of probiotic yogurt daily. Other good probiotic foods that you can include in your diet are miso, kimchi, sauerkraut and kefir.

7. Edamame

The phytoestrogens in this soy product help keep the vagina lubricated, which is very important to prevent dryness, itching and other problems. It also contains omega-3 fatty acids, protein and several vitamins and minerals that help your body cope with premenstrual as well as menopausal symptoms.

Aim for consuming ½ cup of organic, unprocessed edamame on a daily basis. Other soy products that you can include in your diet are soybeans, soymilk, tofu and so on.

8. Flaxseeds

Rich in phytoestrogens and high in omega-3 fatty acids, flaxseeds can also combat many vaginal issues. The phytoestrogens increase estrogen levels, which prevents vaginal dryness and other menopausal symptoms.

In addition, the zinc in these seeds help treat vaginal dryness, itching and burning.

Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseeds on cereal, smoothies, yogurt, salads and juices. When eating flaxseeds, make sure to drink an ample amount of water for smooth digestion.

9. Water

Your vagina is a mucus surface, same as the inside of your mouth, so the better hydrated you are, the better hydrated those membranes are going to be,” Lindsay told BuzzFeed. And while some strong-smelling foods can translate into a stronger-smelling vagina, water can help bring things back to whatever is normal for you. “If you’re concerned, you can drink water and that can dilute out what you might perceive to be a bad smell from the food

Vagina-facts-544048

10. Avocado

Avocado is another food that stimulates vaginal health. The healthy fats in avocado support healthy vaginal walls and keep it naturally lubricated. This helps prevent vaginal dryness as well as itching and burning.

Make sure to eat avocado in moderation. Just ¼ of an avocado daily is enough to reap its benefits. You can include this creamy fruit in your salad, sandwich or smoothie.

11. Candy

Yes, CANDY. Specifically the brand, Good N’ Plenty. In 1998, Dr. Alan Hirsch of the Smell & Taste Research and Treatment Foundation in Baltimore wrote in his book Scentsational Sex: The Secret to Using Aroma for Arousal that the scent of Good & Plenty candy, especially when mixed with a cucumber perfume, sexually arouses women.

12. Almonds

Almonds and pumpkin seeds are high in zinc, which helps combat itching and regulates the menstrual cycle.

13. Bananas

Ha! Not in that way (wink, wink). Sweet and delicious, bananas are also a good source of Vitamin B6 and C as well as manganese, potassium, biotin and copper.

14. Kimchi

Kimchi is another probiotic and it’s also safe for those who may be lactose intolerant and can’t eat yogurt. Kimchi helps maintain your vagina’s PH levels to slightly acidic. Another plus to probiotics? They help ward off bad bacteria as well, keeping infections down there at bay.

15. Broccoli

Broccoli may not be the hottest veggie on the block, but this study may change your mind. A study from 2007 found that women who ate foods rich in flavonoid kaempferol––like broccoli––saw their risk for ovarian cancer reduced by an incredible 40 percent

Best food for your Penis

how-to-make-your-penis-bigger1

The food you eat is crucial for sexual health, especially for men. From erection strength to sperm motility, what you consume affects your “little big guy” down there in the bedroom.

Research indicates that some specific nutrients — from common vitamins to lesser-known plant extracts — have demonstrated positive effects on very specific aspects of penile performance. Here’s 25 of the best foods you should feed your penis.

1.) Bananas

Even though they look like a penis, that’s not why bananas are chosen (LOL). Hard men have healthy hearts, so eat bananas for potassium, which is great for your heart and circulation. Getting enough potassium helps keep your sodium levels under control, stopping your blood pressure from hitting the roof and reducing your risk of heart problems. If you eat too much salt and don’t like bananas, get your potassium from oranges or jacket potatoes (the mineral’s in the skin).

2.) Spinach

Eating spinach, a green rich in appetite-suppressing compounds, can not only make you look better naked but increase blood flow below the belt. Increased blood flow drives blood to the extremities, which, like Viagra, can increase arousal and make sex more pleasurable. Spinach is also rich in folate, which increases blood flow to the nether regions, helping to protect you against age-related sexual issues.

3.) Coffee

Recent University of Texas findings suggests that men who drink two to three cups of java a day—or 85 to 170 milligrams of caffeine from other beverages—are 42 percent less likely to have erectile dysfunction than those who consume up to seven milligrams of the stimulant daily. And those who throw back four to seven cups were 39 percent less likely to have the condition than their less jittery counterparts. The trend holds true among overweight, obese and hypertensive men, but not for those with diabetes, a condition that often causes the issue. So, how exactly does drinking coffee keep things going strong? Scientists say that the stimulant triggers a series of reactions in the body that ultimately increase blood flow to the penis.

4.) Tomatoes

Men who eat over 10 servings of tomatoes each week have an 18 percent lower risk of developing prostate cancer — the result of lycopene, an antioxidant which fights off toxins that can cause DNA and cell damage — a study in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention found. A previous study found the garden vegetable could also improve sperm morphology (shape); men with the highest tomato intake contributed to between 8 and 10 percent more ‘normal’ sperm.

MUST READ: How The Penis Changes With Age

5. Hot Sauce

Want it hot and spicy in the bedroom? Eat a little spice. A recent study from France found men who have a taste for spicy foods tend to have higher testosterone levels than those who can’t handle the heat. Of the 114 male participants surveyed, researchers saw a clear correlation between frequent hot-sauce usage and higher T-levels. Study authors suggest the findings may be due in part to capsaicin—the fiery compound in chili pepper that previous studies have associated with increased testosterone levels. In animal studies, capsaicin has also shown to increase the size of sex organs, while simultaneously decreasing belly fat.

6. Watermelon

Watermelon is one of the richest natural sources of L-citrulline, an amino acid that can help make your erection harder. Once it’s in the body, it converts to L-arginine, stimulating the production of nitric oxide, which increases blood flow to the penis, strengthening erections.

7. Ginger

If you like your food like you like your lovers—sweet and spicy—you’re in luck. Ginger is another food that can improve your sex life by aiding blood flow and improving artery health. According to a study in the International Journal of Cardiology, consuming a mere teaspoon of the stuff a few times a week is all you need to reap the heart-healthy benefits. The spice has also been shown to boost levels of testosterone and sperm viability. So go ahead and place that second order of sushi this week—just don’t leave the ginger on your plate.
8. Pomegrante

A recent study published in the International Journal of Impotence Research discovered that pomegranate juice, rich in antioxidants that support blood flow, can help improve erectile dysfunction. Animal studies have also shown that the mixture improves long-term erectile response.

TAKE A LOOK: Men, Here’s 3 Ways You Can Detox Your Penis

9. Green Tea

The brew is rich in compounds called catechins, which have been shown to blast away belly fat and speed the liver’s capacity for turning fat into energy. But that’s not all: Catechins also boost desire by promoting blood flow to your nether region. “Catechins kill off free radicals that damage and inflame blood vessels, increasing their ability to transport blood,” says Cassie Bjork, RD, LD of Healthy Simple Life. “Catechins also cause blood vessel cells to release nitric oxide, which increases the size of the blood vessels, leading to improved blood flow,” she explains. Blood flow to the genitals = feeling of sexual excitement.

10. Dark Chocolate

Chocolate was always associated with love and Valentine’s Day and that’s for good reason. Cacao increases levels of the mood-boosting hormone serotonin, which can lower stress levels, boosting desire and making it easier to reach orgasm. And that’s not all: Cocoa also increases blood flow through the arteries and relaxes blood vessels, sending blood to all the right regions, which can boost sexual pleasure.

11. Oatmeal

If you want to go long enough to help your date reach the big O, reach for some oatmeal. The popular breakfast cereal is a good source of l-arginine, an amino acid commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction. Plus, whole grains like oatmeal also help lower cholesterol levels. Having high cholesterol can lead to atherosclerosis, a condition that clogs and narrows arteries, impairing blood flow. This could eventually lead to heart problems, but you’ll likely notice issues below the belt first. The arteries surrounding the genital area are narrower than coronary blood vessels, so they’re more susceptible to clots. Simply put, the better your cholesterol levels are, the better your erection will be, too.

According to a study printed in Nutrition Journal, a little red wine could elevate your testosterone levels. In lab tests, researchers found that a compound in wine, blocks an enzyme that causes the body to excrete testosterone, thereby increasing the amount of testosterone circulating in the blood. Wine’s rich antioxidant profile also triggers nitric oxide production, which relaxes artery walls. This increases blood flow.

15. Catuaba

This Amazonian aphrodisiac comes from a tree native to Brazil, where tribes traditionally use it to remedy a lagging libido, impotence and nervousness (a well-known mojo killer). The plant’s active compounds, catuabine A and B, appear to act on sex centers in the brain, so you may experience erotic dreams while taking catuaba.

In one study, men who had lower testosterone and were infertile also had significantly lower selenium levels than the fertile group. Supplementing with the mineral improved chances of successful conception by 56 percent. And a second study that included 69 infertile men with low levels of the mineral, found selenium supplementation could significantly improve sub-par sperm motility associated with testosterone deficiency. Moreover, 11 percent of the men successfully impregnated their partners during the trial.

Men who ate the most carrots saw improved sperm performance by 6.5 to 8 percent. The Harvard researchers attribute the boost to carotenoids, powerful antioxidative compounds in carrots that help the body make Vitamin A.

21. Serrano Chilles

A recent study by French researchers found that men who eat the most spicy foods tend to have higher testosterone levels than those with milder palates. Study authors attribute the T-boosting effects in part to capsaicin, a compound in chilies that previous research has associated with increased testosterone levels. Seriously spicy serrano peppers are also packed with quercetin, a nutrient shown to boost testosterone levels in the body by reducing the amount that’s otherwise flushed out by the kidneys.
